1. what hangout nyc is
hangout nyc is a free community bulletin board that helps people in harlem, the upper east side, and the upper west side find others to do activities with. we connect people — we are not a dating service, an event organiser, an employer, or a matchmaking agency.
2. we are a platform, not a party
hangout nyc is not responsible for the actions, behaviour, safety, or conduct of any user before, during, or after a meetup. when you agree to meet someone, that is a decision you make independently. use good judgment. we strongly encourage meeting in public places first.
3. your listings and replies
by posting a listing or sending a reply you confirm that the information you provide is honest and that you intend to follow through on plans you confirm. you also confirm you are 18 years of age or older. we reserve the right to remove any listing that is spam, abusive, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful to the community.
4. no guarantees
we do not verify the identity of any user. we do not guarantee that any listing is genuine, that any user will show up, or that any meetup will go well. the reliability score is based on self-reported data and is a community signal only — not a guarantee of anything.
5. your data
when you post a listing or send a reply, your information (name, email, message) is stored in a private google sheet accessible only to the hangout nyc admin. your email address is never displayed publicly on the site. it is shared only with the person you are corresponding with, for the purpose of arranging a meetup.
6. prohibited conduct
you may not use this site to harass, solicit, scam, or harm other users. you may not post listings that are sexually explicit, discriminatory, or illegal. violations may result in removal from the platform and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
7. limitation of liability
to the fullest extent permitted by law, hangout nyc and its operators shall not be liable for any damages arising out of your use of this site or any meetup arranged through it. you use this platform at your own risk.
8. changes
we may update these terms from time to time. continued use of the site means you accept any updated terms.
